In the July planner we talked about what you can add for content.

This month we are talking about what your content should include.

The internet is a busy place, how do you connect with your market and your customers and clients?  Connecting comes in different forms, this could be social media posts, blog posts, emails, traditional advertising, window displays and signage.

Remember the 5 C's of communication:
  1. Clear:  Who is your target market?  You can't create clear content if you don't know who you are communicating with.  People are more concerned with how your products or services benefit them, rather than the special features.  Before you post, picture your ideal customer and write to them.
  2. Candid: Don't be afraid to share a personal side.  I know this is hard, if you are like me and didn't grow up with a phone in your hand and taking selfie's of yourself daily - being in front of the camera is hard.  Talking and sharing with a screen seems so disconnected and impersonal.  But in today's environment it is how people connect - even though it is generally a false persona that most are sharing.  How you want to present yourself is up to you.  The best advice I can give here, is to be yourself.  You are the only one that can present your product or service the way that you can.  Everyone connects to people differently, as you share you will find your connections, then build into them and serve them.  That is your goal.
  3. Concise:  Your content and where you share it all has a time and place.  Your social media shouldn't have a lot of words.  Social Media is for scrolling.  You can use that platform to connect and then send them to the next step.  Your next step could be a blog post, or your website for event registration. It could be your storefront or online store for your current sale.  Create steps - this creates a connect with you and your consumer or client.  If they are willing to move to the next step with you, you are creating a connection with them.  Serve them well and you will see them again and again.
  4. Creative: Your competitors have similar products - what makes you unique?  If I am ordering online and you have the same price point as everyone else.  Why should I order from you?  How can you stand out above your competitors?  Represent yourself professionally by creating content in CANVA.  Be sure to use your logo and brand colours.  When the public sees your content they should know that is you without reading a word or seeing your logo.
  5. Consistent:  Random posts here and there are not effective.  You need to think about how you are going to manage your communication.  Planning out your next month of contect is a very helpful tool.  Using various platforms like Creator Studio on Facebook, Planoly, Later, for social media, Mailchimp for emails,  or you can hire someone to do this for you.  Being consistent doesn't mean time consuming.  If you  use the tools that are available it makes it so much easier and it won't feel like a chore.
